Here are a few considerations that will lessen your residential home's impact on the environment.

1. If you change to an accredited Green Power option you will eliminate household emissions from electricity.

2. Install a solar hot-water system, this will add up to a 30% reduction in household emissions.

3. Instal solar panels: eliminates household emissions from electricity.

4. Use energy-efficient household appliance this will provide up to 50% reduction in household emissions from electricity.

5. Use a triple-A rated shower head - a reduction of 12% in household emissions.

6. Use energy efficient light bulbs which will lead to a 10% reduction in household emissions.

Away from the house but nontheless important:

1. Check the fuel efficency of your next car, depending our your choice you can reduce transportation emissions by 70%

2. Walk, cycle or take public transit, this would be a major reduction (sorry, no percentage reduction for this change)

3. Calculate your carbon footprint, awareness of your emissions is essential to setting goals and changing your habits.

4. Suggest a workplace audit = up to 30% reduction in emissions

5. If you write to a politician about climate change it will change the world!
